SCHOOL BUS DRIVER

4-4 1/2 hours per day, depending upon route

This position requires the ability to drive a school bus along a designated route; pickup and discharge students in accordance with time schedules; observe legal and defensive driving practices; assure compliance with applicable traffic and student transportation laws, codes, regulations and clearances required by company, school district, state and federal agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Safe, efficient transportation of students and adults
  • Safe and defensive driving practices
  • Basic first aid, and attention to injury
  • Must check inside vehicle daily, front and back for any children or articles left behind
  • Oral, written communication skills, record-keeping, confidentiality with student info.
  • Health and safety regulations
  • Policy and procedures related to student discipline on buses
  • Learn and follow designated routes (Changes-Management approval only)
  • Maintain bus in clean and proper working condition
  • Proper use of two way radio system
  • Attend safety meetings
  • Work in a cooperative manner with fellow employees and management

VAN DRIVER

The aide assists the school bus or van driver in safely transporting students to and from school. An aide is needed on bus or van with a student that has an IEP or other special circumstances.

  • Responsible for the behavior of students on the bus or van
  • Assist in loading and unloading special needs students and to monitor their ride to and from school
  • Assist in managing the seating of the students so that everyone is safe and secure.
