BASKETRY – Tabletop or Serving Basket

Weave a tabletop or serving basket with a double bottom and twining, several rows of threerod wale at the base of the sides, and a multi-colored side feature of French randing (diagonal weaving) and double-lashed rim. Bring a dishpan, sharp scissors, tape measure, clip clothespins, a towel & pencil. Small awl optional. Enrollment limited.

One of the most popular crafting techniques these days is making beaded jewelry for yourself or special gifts for family and friends. This is an informal class on beaded jewelry design and assembly. In class you will make a complete ensemble of a necklace, earrings and bracelet as you learn the techniques for creating this type of jewelry. You may choose what items you would like to make. A supply list will be mailed out to you before class begins.

Make fantastic hand-crafted buttons, beautiful one-of-a-kind fashion pins and pendants, or seasonal ornaments. In class, with the help of the instructor, form unique creations from clay. You can make rolled flat buttons, hand molded buttons in shapes (great for hand knitters or those who sew), decorative pins and pendants, seasonal ornaments. The sky is the limit for what you can create. Glaze and fire your projects in the color(s) of your choice. Clay purchased in class from instructor for $7 which includes firing and glazes.

"Hook in" to the fiber trend that's old and new again! This class teaches the fundamentals of crochet. You will learn the basic stitches out of which all crochet patterns are formed (chain, single, half-double, double, and treble), plus a few nifty tricks. Every participant will complete a scarf by the end of the course. Please bring $7 to the first class for crochet hooks, needle, yarn, and instruction booklet. In this one-time workshop, we’ll show you how to make your very own fused glass serving platter, just in time for your holiday entertaining or gift giving! Want to learn to knit socks but afraid it might be too difficult? If you know how to do basic knit and purl stitches and can do a decrease stitch, you will be able to make socks in our new workshop. Currently sock knitting has become so popular that yarns have been designed especially to create interesting stripes and patterns for your socks. Learn to use double pointed needles, “turn the heel”, and do the Kitchener stitch to graft the toe stitches together. These same patterns can also be used for Christmas Stockings.
