Weave a Victorian Kansas Flower Basket with a round base and tall sides (can hold a 3” diameter jar for water) to hold fresh, dried or silk flowers. It features a widely flared top, woven border and looped handle. Bring a dishpan, sharp scissors, tape measure, 8 clip clothespins, a towel & pencil. Small awl optional. One of the most popular crafting techniques these days is making beaded jewelry for yourself or special gifts for family and friends. This is an informal class on beaded jewelry design and assembly. In class you will make a complete ensemble of a necklace, earrings and bracelet as you learn the techniques for creating this type of jewelry. You may choose what items you would like to make. A supply list will be mailed out to you before class begins.

Learn how a cartoon is developed and the creative process to develop a cartoon strip, panel or editorial cartoon. Create your own storyline and characters. Learn how to create illustrations for advertising, books and magazines. Each student receives a spec sheet for each assignment that can be completed in class or at home. Work at your own pace based on your ability. From start to finish you could be off on an exciting new career as a free-lance cartoonist or illustrator. Knitting is popular again, & we are providing you with a time & place to do it without interruptions. Come on out with your needles, your yarn, your patterns, & your questions, & we will knit the night away. If you are interested in doing the newest “felted knitting” or making knitted jewelry, these techniques will be covered in class. All welcome, beginners & seasoned knitters alike. MINIATURE PORCELAIN FLOWERS – Arrangement of Lilies

Create a beautiful miniature lily arrangement in the colors of your choice. After making the flowers, the arrangement goes in a small frame or can be made into a pin. All tiny flowers are made by hand from special clay. No molds of any kind are used. Each leaf and petal is individually formed by hand. When dry, paint the flowers with watercolors. You will receive the recipe for making the clay so you can continue making flowers at home. Once you learn this technique, you can make many more of these arrangements. Skills can also be used to make miniatures for doll houses, etc. Bring to class: Towel or cloth to work on, bottle of Sobo glue, tiny sharp pointed scissors, watercolors (Crayola paints are fine) and box to transport your creations. All other supplies provided by instructor.

Just in time for the Easter Holidays, you can create 2 beautifully decorated Easter Eggs in this workshop. Using duck eggs, the first egg will feature an applied antique silk print and braid with a finial on the top and bottom for decoration. The second egg is an adorable bird house with a roof with shingles and a window box with flowers, and a tiny bird perched on the side of the egg. Bring to class: Towel or cloth to work on, bottle of Sobo glue, tiny sharp pointed scissors, and box to transport your creations. All other supplies provided by instructor.

In this two-night class, you will complete three mini photo albums (4x6") using the Donna Dewberry One Stroke Painting Method. As you paint these beginner projects, you will use a multi-color brush load and be able to blend, shade and highlight in one brush stroke. One album will feature a Lilac, another will be of a vine and berry arrangement, and the third will be a spring pansy. Bring to class: a long liner script brush, a #6 flat, a #8 flat and a #4 filbert brush (available at AC Moore or Michael's in various brands). All other supplies, albums, and paint will be provided by the instructor for a $6 material fee, payable in class.

Let your imagination take you on this journey in creative clay making – you will learn the method to build a cylindrical container with a lid. You can make one large or several smaller containers. These attractive decorative pieces have a high-end designer appearance and can be used to hold a variety of items. Decorate the sides of your container with patterns and designs – either a design you create, or patterns made from leaves, lace, or other “press-on” items. Material fee $12 payable in class for clay & glazes. Pick up your container at the high school any Monday evening between 6:30 & 9:30 after the class is finished.

Have you every wanted to learn to throw a bowl on the pottery wheel? Here is an opportunity for you to have a “one on one” lesson with a professional potter who will teach you how to do this. In class you will receive 5 lbs. of clay. Use 2 lbs to create your bowl, then have the chance to make an assortment of other clay items with the remaining clay. Week 1 - make your bowl, and week 2 - glaze and decorate it. Pick up your bowl at the high school any Monday evening between 6:30p.m. & 9:30p.m. after the class is finished. In class you and your child will learn to hand mold candleholders, a “bowl-in-a-bowl”, garden markers, and charming flower pockets. Week one - make your clay items, and week 2 - paint and glaze your creations. Completed items may be picked up on 4/28.
