Come prepared to have fun figuring out Spoken French.  All you need is an open mind.  It will be according to theme:  Personal Information, Family Talk, Shopping Time, At the Restaurant,  Songs and New Vocabulary Through Song, Asking Directions and Using Public Transportation.  The person who chooses this fun course cannot get frustrated if a little confused.  Come ready to laugh and play a constant game of “French Charades”!

Work on pronunciation, phrases, and sentences for travel, using a standard German phrase book. In the second half of the hour, we will focus on an aspect of German history and culture, which will be presented in English and which will be offered to the advanced learners as well. Come prepare for your travel to the German-speaking world!

The foundation for this course is Beginning German Level I - or your own previous learning in school or at home. Pronunciation, simple phrases, and vocabulary are complemented with language structure, conversation, light reading, and culture. Assignments completed on your own are important to progress; computer guidelines are available for those interested. Textbook assigned the first night of class.

An introduction to the reading and writing of Hiragana, a phonetic alphabet, basic rules of sentence structure and conversation.  Class will include a brief introduction to the Japanese culture and customs related to the language.  Video tapes and CD’s are used to learn both pronunciation and vocabulary.  An optional text “Japanese for Busy People” will be suggested for class and can be purchased at local bookstores or online.  No previous knowledge of the language is required.

This introductory course will provide you with the basic vocabulary to communicate with the deaf culture.  Learn the history, alphabet, numbers, communication, emotions, family foods, some verbs and pronouns. Learn do’s and don’t- do’s in communicating with the deaf. Bring to class: 2” ring binder, and the book: You Can Learn Sign Language by Jackie Kramer and Tali Ovadiva available at Amazon.com.

To take this class you should have taken Beginning ASL or have a solid basic foundation of ASL vocabulary.  The objectives are to reinforce vocabulary and to continue practice using sign language to communicate time, months of the year, emergency/hospital/medical signs and age signs.  Take your ASL training to the next level.
