Children who are enrolled in this option may be dropped off at West Broad Street at 7am or after. At noon participants will be transported to Franconia (via school bus), receive their lunch (included in price), and take part in day camp activities for the rest of the afternoon. Parents will pick up their child at Franconia by 6pm. The cost for this is the same as a week of regular Day Camp.
Week 1: (June 23-27) Circle of Life
This popular theme is important in our natural world. Nature recycles everything. Learn about the cycles of nature and how they relate to our own efforts to recycle. Through creative projects and outdoor activities, campers learn about ways they can help protect the environment in their own lives. Creative recycling projects like making paper and recycled bird feeders play a major role in this week's theme. This camp is for everyone who wants to learn how to do their part to help protect the environment.
Week 2: (July 7-11) It's a Bug's Life
Insects are everywhere! In fact, there are more insects than any other type of animal on our planet. Explore the secrets of this little known part of nature. Campers search for bugs in every corner of the environmental center and collect some to be examined with microscopes and other scientific instruments. A unique opportunity to learn about the fascinating world of our insect friends.
Week 3: (July 14-18) Water Week
Our annual water week is a favorite with campers! Learn about the properties of water and the importance of water in our environment. Explore the uses of water in our daily lives through a series of fun, and wet, water activities. Outdoor lessons will focus on the ponds in the environmental center and additional indoor lessons will teach campers how to conserve water in their homes.
Week 4: (August 4-8) Wildlife Week
Campers will look at the lives of animals and how they interact with their habitat. Learn about local wildlife that inhabits our forests & fields through Native American stories and outdoor adventures. Spot evidence of wildlife in the forest and learn where to look for animal homes. The highlight will come later in the week when we get a visit from a local wildlife center & some of its animal friends!
Week 5: (August 11-15) Captain Planet Week
Parents who require full-day care during Aug. 11-15 should send their child on SAFARI TRIP WEEK
Captain Planet, an environmental super hero with the powers of nature, is a composite of the five Planeteers and their powers - Earth, Fire, Wind, Water and Heart - magnified. Inspired by the Captain Planet cartoon, campers explore options and develop solutions to environmental problems. Each day begins with an environmental problem. Through a series of outdoor activities, campers use a Planeteer's power to help save the day!
Week 6: (August 18-22) Best of Summer - SAVEing the World
To provide parents with an extra week of childcare before school begins, we are offering full day camp at the SAVE
Environmental Center, WEST BROAD ST. ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, Souderton. This week will include a full day of activities,
featuring the best and most popular SAVE topics, as well as celebrating our summer theme about diversity. Lunch & snacks
included. Select this week individually or find it included at a special price for those who choose the entire summer package. This is the only Day Camp open this week.
