3/16/2011: SAHS Students Win at Science Fair
Ten students from Souderton Area High School participated in the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science Competition held February 26, 2011 at Cheltenham High School in Wyncote, PA. Placing first, second, or third in the competition are: Amanda Brush, 1st place, How do differently types of pollutants affect the growth of grass?; Dreya Cherry, 2nd place, The Effect of Music Volume on Memorization; Natalie Robertson, 1st place, Forcing a Pointe; Colin Detweiler, 1st place, Got Golf?; Genevieve Grossman, 2nd place, Music and the Mathematical Brain; Sean Hayden, 2nd place, Color Crickets; Devon James, 3rd place, Fruit Fly Attraction to Fructose; Christopher James, 2nd place, The Effect of Barometric Pressure of Voltage; Alison Lipscomb, 2nd place, Are cats primarily left pawed or right?; and Kevin Hanlon, 2nd place, Effect of Creatine on Crayfish.
The Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science is a statewide organization of junior and senior high school students designed to stimulate and promote science and mathematics among the youth in Pennsylvania. Three students: Amanda Brush, Natalie Robertson, and Colin Detweiler advanced to the State Competition to be held at Penn State University in May.
