8/2/2010: Student Activity Fee for Middle and High School Students

The SASD Board of School Directors has established a new policy regarding STUDENT ACTIVITY FEE. This email is to inform parents of the guidelines.

An activity fee of $50.00 will be paid by all middle and high school students if they choose to participate in any co-curricular activity, either athletic or non-athletic. The fee is paid one time per year even if a student participates in multiple activities. Participation is optional.

The activity fee will be collected for participation in all co-curricular activities excluding, but not limited to, the following: Service Clubs (Key Club, Interact), Elected Positions (Senior Class Advisors, Junior Class Officers, Student Council, Honor Society) and accredited courses such as Band and Chorus.

Provisions will be made for exemption from paying either a part or all of the fees by students whose economic situation would otherwise preclude their involvement.

Students who would qualify for free or reduced price lunches, under the guidelines established for the federally funded lunch programs, will not be required to pay the student activity fee.

Additional information will be supplied to students/families from building principals.
