12/22/09: Superintendent Dr. Charles D. Amuso announces intention to retire

Souderton Area School District Superintendent Dr. Charles D. Amuso has submitted a letter of resignation indicating that he will retire on June 30, 2010 to the Board of School Directors. Dr. Amuso has served as superintendent at Souderton Area since February 9, 2005.

Dr. Amuso stated, “I have appreciated the chance to serve as superintendent at Souderton Area. The opportunity here has been inspiring and interesting.”

Dr. Amuso began his career as an educator in 1968 as a high school English teacher at Baldwin High School in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. He has served as an administrator at Lancaster-Lebanon Intermediate Unit and as superintendent at the Kane Area, Catasauqua Area, and Boyertown Area school districts prior to coming to Souderton Area School District.

Dr. Amuso is looking forward to spending more time with his wife, his children, and his grandchildren. Dr. Amuso also intends to pursue his interests in university teaching and consulting.
