Souderton Negotiations End After One Hour, Teacher's Union Offers No Counter Proposal - September 5th
Despite the Souderton Area School Board's hope that negotiations would yield movement or a tentative agreement, negotiations between the School Board and the Souderton Area Education Association were suspended by the state mediator after one hour, when the union failed to counter the School Board's most recent salary proposal.
The School Board's most current salary proposal is for increases of 2.5% per year over 3 years. The union's current demand stands at 8.2% per year for 4 years with no participation in healthcare cost containments as requested.
The state mediator plans to communicate with both parties on a regular basis and will schedule a negotiating session as soon as she feels such an action will be fruitful.
