Middle Level Transition

Announcement: Middle Level Attendance Areas Approved on November 13th, 2008

Photograph of Indian Valley and Indian CrestWith the opening of our new high school in the 2009-2010 school year, the Souderton Area School District will be reconfiguring Indian Valley Middle School (currently Grades 6-7) and Indian Crest Junior High School (currently Grades 8-9) into two Grades 6-8 middle schools. This change will relieve the existing overcrowding in both schools by reducing the number of students in each building from 1100 to approximately 800 students.

The middle schools’ transition is an excellent opportunity to improve our program. A Middle Level Transition Steering Committee (MLTSC) was created in the spring of 2004 to begin this improvement process. The MLTSC developed the mission statement (below) and identified key areas to be addressed for a successful reorganization of the schools. Over the past three years, the goal of the MLTSC has been not only to transition our middle grades into the new grade structures, but also to make both schools world-class middle schools.
