New High School Project

New High School > New Information/Updates > SASD Works with Township Officials to Address Neighbor Concerns

SASD and Franconia Township worked collaboratively to address land development issues facing the new school at a special meeting of the Franconia Planning Commission on September 19, 2005. Neighbors, project engineers, and township planners discussed important issues such as property buffers, drainage, parking, curbing, gating, and traffic flow. Significant land development requirements such as constructing a hill along the school property lines, adding evergreen trees and bushes, and supplying additional fencing will further buffer neighbors from the light and noise coming from the future school. To better manage traffic, officials discussed gating the Halteman Road entrance as to serve as a limited access and emergency entrance and exit. Township Engineer, Barry Wert, expressed that the SASD had done a good job in complying with land development requests from township officials.

On a related topic, the SASD is in the deliberative phase in contracting construction management services to supervise the 30-month construction cycle of the project. High on the priority list for the selection of the construction manager is the firm's track record and plans for working with neighbors and addressing their concerns.
