Construction on Schedule!
Happy New Year! The construction phase of the New Souderton Area High School Project is moving forward on schedule.
Because of cooperative weather and an average daily manpower of 125 workers on site, Phase Four of construction is well underway and will continue into the summer months. Phase Four activities already concluded include:
- Completion of roof deck on the three-story classroom wing
- Bringing temporary heating units into the enclosed part of the building so that interior work can be done during the winter months
- Demolition of the dilapidated barn and farm house on the site
- Installation of sanitary, sewer, water, gas, electric, and telecommunication utilities
- Installation of curbing and the secondary entrance to the site
- Completion of the bus loading area
- Excavation of the pool
- Commencing steel stud exterior and masonry enclosure of the three-story classroom wing
- Commencing earth work and soil stockpiling for future athletic fields
Phase Four activities to be completed in the upcoming months include:
- Erecting of all structural steel
- Commencing the construction of the grandstands, running track, and tennis courts
- Performing final grading and spreading of top soil
- Installing perimeter landscaping and seeding the fields in the spring planting season
Phase Five of construction (given the project remains on schedule) will commence this summer and include:
- Relocating the existing utility polls along Lower Road
- Commencing the reconstruction of parts of Lower Road
- Completing the construction of the tennis court and adjoining walkway
- Continuing the construction of the remaining parts of the high school building
- Commencing the construction of the mechanical and electrical systems within the building
Monthly Reports
The New High School Project is a standing item on the agenda of the Operations Committee of the Board of School Directors. These meetings contain regular construction updates by the Construction Manager and are open to the public. Operations Committee meetings are typically held at the District Office on the first Wednesday of each month starting at 6:30p.m. Please feel welcome.
