Construction Still on Schedule!
Happy Spring! Despite the ice storms on Valentine's Day and St. Patrick's Day, the construction phase of the New Souderton Area High School Project is moving forward on schedule. With an average daily manpower of 110 workers on site, Phase Four of construction is well underway and will continue into the summer months. Phase Four activities include:
- Demolition of dilapidated on-site structures
- Extend building foundations and structural steel to include the pool, gymnasiums, cafeteria and auditorium.
- Installation of the sanitary sewer, water, gas, electric, and telecommunication utilities to the site
- Installation of brick veneer to the three-story classroom center (see picture above)
- Installation of above-ceiling mechanical, electrical, and sprinkler systems.
- Drywalling of classrooms on the first and second floors of the classroom center
- Execution of site work/grading of the future tennis courts and stadium facilities
Phase Five of construction will commence later this summer and include:
- Relocating the existing utility polls along Lower Road
- Starting the reconstruction of parts of Lower Road
- Completing the construction of the tennis court and adjoining walkway
- Continuing the construction of core facilities: pool, gymnasiums, cafeteria and auditorium
- Continuing the construction of the mechanical and electrical systems throughout the building
- Further completion of the brick veneer and the installation of windows
Monthly Reports
The New High School Project is a standing item on the agenda of the Operations Committee of the Board of School Directors. These meetings contain regular construction updates by the Construction Manager and are open to the public. Operations Committee meetings are typically held at the District Office on the first Wednesday of each month starting at 6:30p.m. Please feel welcome.
