Transportation Services

Kindergarten Mid-Day Busing for 2011-2012
Souderton Area School District will not be providing mid-day transportation for kindergarten students beginning with the 2011-2012 school year. Budget challenges have forced the Board and administration to make many cuts this next year, beginning with non-required programs or services. This was a very difficult decision by the Board. However, we are pleased to inform you that several of the child-care providers for kindergarten students are planning on providing new or expanded transportation services to fill this void. Because we have an articulation agreement with the YMCA, we are aware that the YMCA is adding additional busing.

Please contact your child-care provider to determine what transportation services may be offered.

We are sorry for this inconvenience.
Sincerely,
Frederick C. Johnson, Ed.D. Superintendent

Bus service is provided according to State guidelines, for all school students who reside more than 1-1/2 miles from the school. Parents who select a private or parochial school for their children are provided similar transportation provided that their school is not for profit and is located within 10 miles of the Souderton Area School District boundaries. Transportation is also provided to special education students, regardless of distance, consistent with their special needs.

All buses have video and audio capability. However, recording systems are in operation only on a limited number of buses at a time. Audio recording is currently disabled due to pending uncertainties regarding wiretapping laws. Bus drivers uniformly enforce safety rules. School administrators are responsible for management of student behavior according to established policies.

Please note:

- All bus routing is created for your home address unless the bus company is told otherwise.

- If your child will need busing to another and/or from any location different from your home address, on a daily basis, you must fill out a Bus Stop Change Request Form (Includes Bus Stop Change Request Policy). This form must be completed every year.
