The Halteman Tower and the Lower Tower are the academic wings where students will take the majority of their classes. The Main Concourse is the large hallway that separates these academic wings from the Arts/Cafeteria/Athletics Wing.
Has the bell schedule changed from the previous high school bell schedule?
The bell schedule is unchanged. The more efficient lay-out of the new building
makes 6 minutes between blocks more than enough time to get to class.
Where will we get off and on buses?
All buses will drop off students at the Halteman Road Entrance to the building.
Students arriving before 7:25 AM will enter the building and remain in the Concourse or the Cafeteria.
All buses pick up students in the Bus Pick-up Lanes located behind the Library.
How much parking is there?
There are about 900 total parking spaces. Permit parking is available in the North or Halteman Road Lot and in the South or Lower Road Lot. The only access to the parking lots is by the Main Entrance on Lower Road. The entrance on Halteman Road is closed and is only used in cases of large events (i.e., football games and graduation) and emergencies.
Is there still senior privilege?
There is senior privilege again this year. Those with senior privilege will be able to enter and exit the
building and swipe their ID cards at either of the two Security Desks located at both ends of the Concourse.
As graduation requirements increase, senior privilege will no longer exist.
From where can we enter the building?
From 7:00 AM until 7:40 AM, you can only enter the building from two locations - the Halteman Road Entrance and the Lower Road entrance. After 7:40 AM, only the Lower Road Entrance will be open. The Halteman Road Entrance is for parents dropping off students only.
What kinds of backpacks can we use?
You may use any type of backpack; however, you may not carry them during the school day. All backpacks and bags must be stored in a locker during the school day. LADIES: any "purse" large enough to hold a textbook is considered to be a "backpack" and is required to be stored in a locker.
What kind of lockers do we have?
All students will be assigned a locker, large enough to store their school necessities (backpack, lunch, and coats). Unlike at the old high school, using backpacks during the school day is strictly prohibited. Please see handout for locker locations.
Will we get ID cards? Do we really need them?
You will need your ID cards more than ever as the Cafeteria is cashless. This means you will always need to swipe your card to purchase anything in the Cafeteria. There will be automated cash machines located in the rear of the Cafeteria so you can add money directly to your ID card. You can still add money to your card via cash or check before the start of the school day with Mrs. Forster in the Cafeteria or online at mylunchmoney.com.
How many lunches will there be? When will we find out about lunch assignments?
There will be 3 lunches each day as previously. You will have access to the courtyard and bathrooms during your lunch period. Due to the new Cafeteria layout there will be more a la carte items. You will learn of your lunch assignments on the first day of school.
Will vending machines be available?
Vending machines are located in the Cafeteria and outside of the Gymnasium. The vending machines in the Cafeteria will be accessible before school and during lunches only. Machines located outside of the Gymnasium will be accessible only after school. Vending machines will take cash.
