Conclusions

  • Souderton students are maintaining an already high level of student achievement as compared to national and historical averages.
  • Average AP scores have improved and consolidated around the block schedule.
  • Average AP participation has marginally improved and consolidated around the block schedule.
  • Percentage of qualified students (scores of 3 or better) continues to improve.
  • Percentage of well qualified and extremely well qualified student (scores of 4 and 5) improved and consolidated over the past three years.
  • AP Economics courses have strong debut.
  • Strongest gains in math and sciences (Calc AB, Biology, Environmental Science).
  • Central tendency of scores phenomenon occurring in courses with the greater participation rates (English Lit, English Comp, European History, US History).

Recommendations/ Courses of Action

  • Potential exists to expand offerings (potentially A.P. Probability and Stat, AP Government, AP Computer Sci, AP Art Studio).
  • Potential exist to expand AP opportunities to a greater number of students-particularly 10th graders.
  • Maintain twin goals of increased participation and higher scores.
  • Maintain/expand training of AP teachers.
  • Make scheduling and facilities adjustments as needed/able.
  • Continue to remove barriers created by students' financial need.
  • Expand communication/agreements with post secondary organizations.
