Schoology FAQs

Q: What is Schoology?
A: Schoology is a learning management system (LMS), allowing students and teachers to
collaborate online. Schoology allows teachers to post assignments and other resources for their classes. Students can access Schoology from any computer or mobile device with Internet access.

Q: How do parents access Schoology?
A: Parents log in to Schoology at (Note: We recommend using Google Chrome).  Type the username and password received from the school district into the corresponding boxes and click the Log In button
Note: The username is the same as the parent's Home Access Center username

Q: What if a parent forgets their Schoology password?
A: This can be easily reset on the Schoology log in page,, by clicking the "Forgot your password" link.

Q: How do students access Schoology?

Q: What if my student is having trouble logging into Schoology with their SASD Google account?

A: In order for students to use Schoology, they must log in using their SASD Google username and password.  When logging into Schoology, please be sure to sign OUT of all other Google accounts.  For instructions on signing OUT of other Google accounts in order to successfully log into Schoology, please watch the Google/Schoology Login video. 

Q: What can parents see in Schoology?
A: Parents can view courses, assignments, and calendars for all of their students. Parents cannot view submitted assignments, comments from other children in the class, or feedback provided by teachers.

Q: When I am logged into Schoology with my parent account, some information is labeled as Restricted or Private, why?
A: The items that are restricted, such as Google assignments and similar, are private to students only. Parents do not have the same permissions as students. This happens because the information is tied to the student’s Google account. The parent should ask the student to log in to Schoology and Google to view the restricted content.

Q: Why can't I see my student's submitted work in Schoology?
A: Schoology is intended as a collaboration tool for students and teachers. Parents are able to monitor course content and view assignments, but not review a student's submitted work. The best way to get this type of information is to consult with your child or his/her teacher.

Q: What is the difference between Schoology, HAC, and the District Web site?
A: Schoology is our learning management system, where teachers can post course content,
provide resources for students, and review assignments. Home Access Center (HAC) is our
student records system that records official grades, class schedules, and attendance. The District Web site is our externally-facing Web presence for people interested in learning more about our schools, programs, courses and activities.

Q: Can I use Schoology on a mobile device or tablet?
A: Apps are available for both iOS and Android devices.

Q: What browser should I use for Schoology?
A: We recommend using the Google Chrome browser. When using Internet Explorer, the Schoology menu bar may not work properly. The menu bar works correctly in Google Chrome.

Q: Why can't I see my child's attendance and grades in Schoology?
A: Schoology is not a replacement for Home Access Center (HAC). HAC is our official student
records system, and that is where you can find data including your student's attendance, grades, and class schedules.

Q: How do I contact my child's teacher?
A: The best way to contact your child's teacher is via email. To find a teacher's email address, check the staff directory on the District Web site

Q: How do I turn Schoology notifications on or off?
A: Schoology provides a feature for parents to receive e-mail notifications based on activity happening in their student’s course(s).  Parents are able to turn notifications on or off based on their preferences.  Please use the following link for directions on Managing Schoology Notifications (PDF)

Q: What if I have problems accessing Google Drive within Schoology?
A: If a student encounters any issues accessing Google Drive within Schoology, they should log out and reconnect to their Google account using the processes below: 
Reconnecting the Google Drive Assignments App with Force Log Out (Students)


1. Navigate to the Google Assignment where you received the error message
2. Copy and paste the following link into the browser address bar:

This will log you out of Google, and ask you to log back in. Upon login, the assignment should open.

Students should also make sure that third party cookies on their browser are turn off:

Google Chrome
-> Navigate to: chrome://settings/content/cookies
-> Make sure that "Block 3rd party cookies" is turned off

-> Navigate to: about:preferences#privacy
-> Under History change it to "Use custom settings for history"
-> Make sure that "Accept cookies from sites" is checked off and "Accept cookies from sites" is set to Always

If the user still experiences issues, please have them restart their device and log back into Schoology to reconnect.
