Two-Week Closure, March 13-27, 2020

Thursday, March 12, 2020

The Governor of Pennsylvania has ordered all Montgomery County School Districts and schools to close for a two-week period in order to stem the spread of the novel coronavirus COVID-19. Clearly, this is an unprecedented move, and one that we are working very closely with government and health officials to manage.
Our District was already scheduled to be closed to students on Friday, March 13, for in-service with our staff. We are now requiring all non-essential staff to also remain home on March 13. All schools and offices will remain closed to students and to the public for two weeks.  All activities, athletics, and meetings are canceled for the two week period of March 13 through March 27. Parent-teacher conferences for Friday, March 13 are canceled. In addition, the SAT scheduled for Saturday, March 14 has been canceled.

Our administrators and teachers had already begun developing instructional materials for students in the event of a shutdown. These materials are not meant to fully replace instruction, but should help our students to maintain some level of academic focus during the closure.  These instructional materials and advice for student learning at home will be communicated to families prior to Monday, March 16.

We are expecting more guidance from the PA Department of Education as to what this closure means for our school calendar. We don’t yet know how much time we may be required to make up. We will be sure to communicate thoroughly and quickly with you as we learn more.

This is a rapidly evolving situation, and we’ll continue to communicate with you about our plans.  Thank you for your patience as we work to limit the impact of this illness in our community.
