Coronavirus Update from the Superintendent - March 18, 2020

March 18, 2020

Thank you for caring for the children of our community in this difficult time.  Our school district is adjusting to the coronavirus outbreak and working closely with our partners in local and state government.

I hope that you have found time to help your child engage with our at home learning activities.  Maintaining a daily focus on academics during this closure is important for young learners.  Our principals and teachers are working to supplement these materials as we enter week two of the closure next week.

We are now providing meals on a daily basis to students who are registered for the free and reduced lunch program.  Meal pickups are offered at five locations daily between the hours of 11:00a.m. and 1:00p.m.  Additional food resources for families are also in place in our community.  Please visit the Food Services during School Closure Web page for a comprehensive list of food resources.

Please be assured that I am getting daily updates from Montgomery County and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Today I hosted a virtual meeting with our six municipal leaders and our five police chiefs. We are supporting each other through this crisis so we can support our entire community.

We have a strong and vibrant community here in the Indian Valley and I know that we will get through this crisis together. I am so proud of our families, our students, our entire staff, and our community members. Although there are many unknowns, we are very fortunate to have such a caring community and we will come out of this even stronger. I am here to serve the students, families, and taxpayers, and am committed to putting all efforts into preserving our community bonds throughout this crisis.

Frank T. Gallagher,
Superintendent of Schools
