School Reopening Update, July 28

July 28, 2020

I am writing to provide an update on our 2020-2021 school reopening plan and the parent selection form that was released yesterday evening.  As of today, over 20% of our parents have completed the selection form, and I am grateful to those of you who have provided us with this information.

I am aware that many parents still have questions about the options presented, particularly in regard to the Souderton Area Online Academy.  We have updated our list of frequently asked questions in order to respond to common questions.

I know that parents simply want what is best for their children, and as Superintendent I genuinely share this aspiration.  The plans we have developed have the safety and health of our students and staff as the top priority.  As we navigate this global pandemic together, my goal is to fulfill our District’s core mission of educating all students while also keeping them safe. This means making decisions and sacrifices we never imagined, including wearing masks and physical distancing in school where human interaction is so vital.

We are continuing to receive questions from community members, and will post responses to our Web site frequently in order to help parents make the best decisions possible for their children.

Sincerely,

Frank Gallagher
