Important Information from Food Service, Sept. 11th

The Food Service Department of Souderton Area School District would like to clarify a few items for the 2020-2021 school year.

  • Pennsylvania Department of Education has approved all studens for “free” breakfast and lunch meals until December 31, 2020, or until the funding is exhausted through Pennsylvania Department of Education.  This approval includes all students in Souderton Area Online Academy (SAOA) as well as all Souderton Area School District students (in-person and virtual learning).

  • Students who are enrolled in SAOA or students who are learning virtually may order and pick up meals on a daily basis.  Meal orders must be placed by 8:30a.m. on the day of service.  Pick-up will be at the school your child would normally attend from 10:00a.m. to 10:30a.m.

  • The online ordering system is for “virtual” learning and students attending Souderton Area Online Academy (SAOA).

  • Online meal ordering pick-up locations:
    • E.M. Crouthamel School – Entrance closest to gym
    • Franconia Elementary School – Front door to left of Main Entrance
    • Oak Ridge Elementary School – Outside of Main Entrance
    • Salford Hills Elementary School – Outside Entrance to Cafeteria
    • Vernfield Elementary – Back loading dock area (Door into Cafeteria)
    • West Broad Street Elementary – Bus Loop (Door into Cafeteria)
    • Indian Crest Middle School – Outside of Cafeteria Door near Gym Entrance (off of Route 113)
    • Indian Valley Middle School – Outside of Main Entrance
    • Souderton Area High School – Stadium Drive (Outside of Cafeteria entrance)

If your child is attending classes in one of the District schools, please do not use the online meal ordering system.  They will be able to get a meal at their school in the cafeteria.

  • The "free" breakfast and lunch meal benefit covers a complete meal.  (A complete meal consists of an entrée, fruit and/or vegetable, and a milk.)  This meal benefit does not apply to a "second" meal or any a la carte items.

  • A student must have funds on their account to purchase a second meal or any a la carte items.

  • If you would like to place a spending limit or "no a la carte purchasing" restriction on your child’s meal account, please contact the Food Service Department at 215-723-6061 ext. 10213.

  • Families are strongly encouraged to apply for meal benefits for the 2020-2021 school year by October 1, 2020.  We want to ensure that all students, if eligible, have meal benefits in place when the “free” meal benefits are no longer available through the Pennsylvania Department of Education.  The Free and Reduced Meal Application can be found on the Food Service Web site.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the Food Service Department at 215-723-6061 ext. 10213 or
