Updated Quarantine Guidelines - December 7th, 2020

On Monday, December 7th, 2020, the Montgomery County Office of Public Health adopted new quarantine guidelines for individuals who are considered close contacts of someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. The guidelines allow for the 14-day quarantine to be shortened.

Therefore, SASD students and staff who are identified as "close contacts" will now be asked to follow the new quarantine guidelines below:

  • Quarantine can end after Day 10 without testing and if no symptoms have been reported during daily monitoring. Individuals completing a quarantine after day 10 should continue monitoring for symptoms until day 14.

  • Quarantine can end after Day 7 if a negative COVID-19 test result is presented and if no symptoms were reported during daily monitoring.
    • The test must be administered on or after Day 5 of the quarantine period, but quarantine cannot be discontinued earlier than after Day 7.
If a student is identified as a "close contact" in school, the student's family will be contacted by the school and advised of the quarantine procedures. Please refer to the updated School Exclusion Recommendations for guidance on when students must stay home from school.

The PA Department of Health has also updated its guidance for out of state travelers. Any PA resident who is returning home from locations outside the state must produce evidence of a negative COVID-19 test or place themselves in quarantine. An individual who is unable to get a test or chooses not to get a test must quarantine for 10 days upon arrival in PA. An individual may quarantine for 7 days with a negative test on or after day 5 of quarantine

Please note that the Souderton Area School District is applying the travel quarantine to ALL students and staff, including students under the age of 11.
