Homeless Supports
Through Education for Children & Youth Experiencing Homelessness (ECYEH) and the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act. Souderton Area School District works to reduce and remove educational barriers for youth experiencing homelessness in the SASD community. See the Homeless Supports Flyer - ENGLISH | SPANISH | VIETNAMESE
The office of the Homeless Liaison for the Souderton Area School District works with building personnel to help obtain eligible assistance, including educational resources and help with transportation, for:
- students living in emergency housing
- students or families displaced from their housing
- runaways
- parents or guardians of students lacking housing
- someone working with homeless students and their families
The McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act guarantees a free and appropriate public education for all homeless children and youth. B.E.C. 42 U.S.C. 11431 outlines procedures for making school placement decisions, enrolling students, and determining responsibility.
