The Souderton Area School District recognizes that student wellness and proper nutrition are related to students’ physical well-being, growth, development, and readiness to learn. The District is committed to the wellness of our students and community by implementing policies and programs that promote a balance of proper nutrition and regular physical activity as part of a healthy lifestyle.

Wellness Policy Assessment
The District conducts a wellness assessment at least once every three years on the contents and implementation of the Wellness Policy as part of a continuous improvement process to strengthen the policy and ensure implementation. This triennial assessment is made available to the public below.
Wellness Committee
The District has a Wellness Committee that serves as an advisory committee regarding student health issues and is responsible for developing, implementing, and periodically reviewing and updating the School Wellness policy that complies with the law to recommend to the Board for adoption.
The Wellness Committee may examine related research and laws, assess student needs and the current school environment, review existing Board policies and administrative regulations, and raise awareness about student health issues. The Wellness Committee shall review and consider evidence-based strategies and techniques in establishing goals for nutrition education and promotion, physical activity and other school-based activities that promote student wellness as part of the policy development and revision process.
