Photograph of student with art displayOne of the hundreds of pieces of art by Souderton Area School District students on display through March 29 at Indian Valley Public Library is a collage of layered paper by Benjamin Eng. "One of the pictures up on the chalkboard was a bird and I thought it was cool, so I wanted to make a bird," the Salford Hills Elementary School second-grader said. 

Specifically, he decided on depicting a phoenix.

I think it makes a lot of sense for these times because phoenix are famous for rising from the ashes and hard times and these kids are so resilient,” said Berdine Leinbach, Salford Hills art teacher and Souderton Area’s coordinator for elementary art.
