Q2: I have children currently attending Souderton Area School District, do I need to complete a registration packet to enroll another child?

Yes. A parent or guardian must complete a registration packet and provide all required documents for each new student entering the district together with proof of residency.

 

 


Q3: How long does it take once registration is complete for my child to start school if they are transferring from another school/district once the school year has begun?

After the Registration Office completes the registration, the registration packet is sent to the school where your child will attend. The school will review the information and determine a schedule/teacher assignment and request records from the prior school. This usually takes between one and three days. The school will contact you directly with an official start date.

 


Q4: My child attended Souderton Area School District in the past. We then moved/transferred to another school. If we want to re-enroll in Souderton Area School District, do we need to submit the registration documents again?

Yes. The registration packet must be completed again and all required registration documents must be provided, including current proof of residency.

No. Placement is based on your address of residence and the attendance boundaries of Souderton Area School District.

 


Q6: What is the required age for entry into kindergarten?

Souderton Area School District Board Policy currently states a child must be 5.0 years of age on or before August 31.

 


Q7: How long is the kindergarten school day?

Through the 2021-2022 school year, kindergarten is half-day, with AM and PM sessions. Beginning with the 2022-2023 school year, kindergarten will be full- day, with hours coinciding with those of SASD’s for elementary schools - 8:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

 


Q8: Is there a registration deadline?

Souderton Area School District does not have a registration deadline and will enroll all students who reside within the district boundary and meet the registration requirements. We highly recommend you complete registration as soon as possible after you establish residency in the district.

 


Q9: What are the required physical or dental examinations?

Physical and dental examinations are not required at the time of registration. State mandates require physical and dental exams during the following grade levels:

  • Physical examinations are required at original entry (Grade K or 1), Grade 6, and Grade 11.
  • Dental Examinations are required at original entry (Grade K or 1), Grade 3, and Grade 7.

 

 


Q10: Do I need my child’s previous school records to register?

After you sign the Release of Information form, our district will request your child’s school records. We recommend you notify your current school you are transferring so they can withdraw your student and prepare to send your student’s records.

 


Q11: How is transportation set up for my child?

Once your child is enrolled (new students enrolled during the current year) and you have received an official start date from the school, please contact Transportation Services at 215-723-4613. They will arrange for transportation. For currently enrolled students, e-mails are sent out over the summer with busing details.

 


Q12: If my child has special education needs, how is that handled?

The Special Education Department reviews all special education records provided by the parent and previous school and works with the parent and IEP Team to make a placement determination.

 


Q13: How do I change my address?

If you are moving within the SASD attendance boundaries and need to change your child’s address, please do the following:

  • Notify the Registration Office of your new address.
  • You will need to provide proof of residency for your new address.  Once proof of residency is received, please contact Transportation Services at 215-723-4613 the following day so your child’s bus can be re-routed.

 


Q14: I am moving to a new school district, do I need to withdraw my child from Souderton Area School District? What do I need to do?

Yes. Please contact your child’s school directly to complete the Withdrawal form. It is extremely important that you complete this form and notify your child’s school of the withdraw.

 


Q15: I do not have a computer or Internet access. How can I enroll my child?
