Assessments & Testing
Assessment is an integral part of the teaching and learning process, providing an understanding of a student’s achievement in relation to their strengths and needs. Through the use of diagnostic, formative, and summative measures, teachers can monitor student learning and refine instruction to meet student needs while promoting their achievement. To gather insight, the following guided questions are asked:
- What do students need to know and be able to do?
Curriculum is the foundation of student learning. Souderton Area School District’s curriculum is strategically aligned with the Pennsylvania Core and Academic Standards as well as National Standards.
- How will we know they have learned it?
Through the use of local assessment measures, state assessment measures, and national assessment measures, the District is able to gain an understanding of student learning.
Assessing student achievement is intricately linked to the mission of the Souderton Area School District, “to prepare students to demonstrate competencies needed to contribute and to succeed in a changing world by building on a commitment to excellence and innovation, by working in partnership with family and community, and by assuring a quality education for all students in a safe and nurturing environment."
